If you want Stencify's main job, turning a design into a true-size printable stencil, but on a computer and without a subscription, MyTattooStencil does it in the browser for a one-time $4.99 for 20 AI designs (about $0.25 each). Stencify itself has no Windows, Mac or web version, and after two free uses it costs $4.99 a week or $47.99 a year on the US App Store (Stencify pricing, Stencify for PC). Stencify is a good app built for working tattoo artists. The difference matters mostly if you're a person getting one tattoo, not an artist converting client references every week.

What that means for one tattoo

Say you want to try about ten versions of an idea before your appointment. With Stencify, two are free, and the rest need the weekly plan at $4.99, which keeps renewing each week until you cancel it. With a one-time pack, the same ten designs come out of a $4.99 pack with ten left over, and there is nothing to cancel.

If you're a working artist making stencils for clients every week, the math flips. Stencify's annual plan is $47.99, about $4 a month for unlimited conversions, and it will cost less than buying packs at that volume.

Stencify has more editing tools: one-tap edits, four shading styles and AI try-on on a client photo. If you need those, it's the stronger app. What it doesn't do is run on a laptop or sell a single small batch.

When Stencify is the better pick

When a browser tool is the better pick

How to check a stencil prints at the right size

Whichever tool you use, print the PDF at Actual size or 100%, on the same paper size you exported (A4 file on A4 paper, Letter on Letter), then measure. Stencify does the same: it says most PDF viewers default to shrinking the page and that mixing A4 and Letter "is the most common reason a stencil comes out slightly off" (Stencify for PC).

In the MyTattooStencil stencil maker, the 10 cm calibration square should measure 100 mm, within 2 mm. You can download a test PDF of your own design without signing in (it's marked PREVIEW) to check your printer's scale before you buy anything. More on this in how to make sure your stencil prints at the right size.

A stencil only sets size and placement. Bring it to a licensed tattoo artist, who will adapt the design to your skin and decide what detail will hold up at that size.
